Lecturer I - One Year Appointment in Visual Communication Design/Graphic Design
Job Description
This is a one-year, non-tenure-track Lecturer appointment in Visual Communication Design/Graphic Design at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, with teaching responsibilities across BA, BFA, and MFA programs in Brownsville and Edinburg. The role combines instructional duties, student advising, and scholarship activities.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high quality instruction within the program.
- Advise undergraduate and graduate students as part of the program.
- Participate in scholarship activities that support the college, university, or local community as needed.
- Teaching assignments may include History of Graphic Design, Visual Communication Design, Typography, Graphic Design Applications, and Digital Imaging.
- As assigned, the position may require presence at multiple Rio Grande Valley locations, including UTRGV campuses in Brownsville and Edinburg.
Requirements
- Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree with 18 graduate credits in the specified subject area from an accredited institution.
- If teaching Art Appreciation as a first-year lecturer, attendance at a required one-day training workshop in August on D2L Brightspace and online text is necessary; failure to attend may result in assignment cancellation.
