Graphic Design Specialist
Job Description
The University of North Texas is seeking a Graphic Design Specialist to help lead UNT Dining Services’ in-house marketing team. Based in Denton, TX and working onsite, you’ll develop both print and digital creative, manage social media responsibilities, and coordinate with student and part-time employees who support web-related assignments.
Role Overview
- Act as the lead graphic designer for a range of print and digital graphic design projects using industry-standard tools.
- Oversee the team’s social media presence as the primary point of ownership.
- Create a social media calendar and design assets for posts, including monitoring responses and benchmarking social media performance.
- Delegate social media and related tasks to part-time designers when needed, providing creative direction and initial feedback before work is submitted for approval.
- Serve as a professional role model and guide for student employees working on their projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce creative solutions while setting and maintaining high team standards.
- Properly delegate projects and provide appropriate feedback to subordinates.
- Maintain reliable attendance by coming to work regularly and following the assigned schedule, including procedures for requesting leave and reporting absences with necessary documentation or releases if required.
- Stay current on job procedures, policies, and technical practices, acting as a resource others can rely on for assistance.
- Identify problems, analyze causes, recommend or take appropriate actions after evaluating alternative solutions, and follow up to ensure issues are corrected.
- Develop strategies and work plans to achieve goals, organizing tasks in a logical sequence and identifying required resources.
- Manage multiple assignments at the same time while seeking new tools, job training, and learning opportunities.
- Communicate clearly and produce solutions with appropriate style, format, spelling, and grammar, including effective oral communication and listening to ensure messages are understood.
- Remain receptive to feedback and constructive criticism, accept accountability for actions, and complete other tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in a related field and one year of work experience in print, video, and/or electronic media production, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
- Understanding of principles, equipment, software, and practices in media design and production.
- High competence with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
- Manual dexterity and physical ability to operate various media equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and/or 2 years of related experience.
- Experience maintaining a Modern Campus website (preferred but not required).

Work Schedule and Other Details
- Hours of operations: 8:00AM to 5:00PM, with some overtime as necessary.
- Driving university vehicle: Yes.
- Security sensitive: This is a Security Sensitive Position.
- Environmental hazards: No adverse environmental conditions expected.
Physical Requirements
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds.
- Sedentary work primarily involving sitting/standing.
