Job Description

The Graphic Design Specialist role at UT Health Science Center's College of Communication and Information focuses on transforming ideas into compelling visuals across print, digital, and event channels. The position maintains a cohesive brand identity while partnering with campus stakeholders on campaigns and initiatives to support the college’s strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop original designs for high impact materials, covering all CCI print and recruitment collateral, annual reports, digital assets, promotional items, and other communications and marketing design needs.
  • Produce assets for event promotion, including posters, programs, digital signage, and social media graphics.
  • Create images, layouts, and illustrations that convey the college mission using Adobe Creative Suite tools such as InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Develop graphics and iconography that align with and unify the college brand.
  • Create branded PowerPoint templates for dean's office needs and collaborate with the assistant director of creative to develop and maintain design templates.
  • Coordinate with external vendors to design and order promotional items for all CCI units.
  • Contribute to the office’s creative culture and uphold quality standards.
  • Establish and articulate standards for the college’s public representation.
  • Ensure all content is on brand, consistent in style and tone, optimized for search, and adaptable for multiple platforms.
  • Support strategic planning of communication and marketing campaigns.
  • Collaborate with team members to contribute to projects and initiatives beyond graphic design scope.
  • Participate in creative brainstorming and content planning.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to an assigned school or unit within CCI for triaging communications and marketing needs.
  • Foster productive relationships with campus colleagues to support cross-functional work.
  • Represent the college at UT Design Roundtable as the designated college liaison.
  • Assist leadership with large scale programs and events for the college.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, art, communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two to three years of professional experience in graphic design, communications, marketing, or public relations; an associate’s degree with 5–7 years of relevant experience is acceptable in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Photography skills with the ability to edit images for print and digital platforms.
  • Videography skills with the ability to edit videos for the college YouTube channel and social media.
  • Proficiency in art and illustration, including the ability to create scientific illustrations and diagrams for research communications.
  • Copy editing ability as needed.
  • Experience producing motion or animated graphics using the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Knowledge of higher education marketing and communications landscape.

Work Location

Compensation and Benefits

The starting salary range is $54,000 to $56,000 per year, dependent on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and suitability.
