Graphic Design and Pre-Press

PIP Printing Downey is hiring a Prepress Production Associate to help prepare customer files for production in a fast-paced commercial printing environment. This onsite role in Downey, CA supports everything from file review and preflighting to creating press-ready PDFs and production files. You’ll be part of a stable, full-time team where you can learn commercial printing, direct mail, fulfillment, and advanced production workflows.

Compensation: $45,000–$55,000 per year (depending on experience). Experience level: 1 year minimum.

What You’ll Do

• Review customer files to confirm they are production-ready.
• Preflight and prepare artwork for digital and large-format printing.
• Make minor edits and corrections when files need adjustments.
• Create press-ready PDFs and other production files.
• Process variable data and mailing projects (training provided).
• Assist with USPS mailing file preparation and postal documentation.
• Coordinate with customer service and production staff about file issues and job requirements.
• Prioritize multiple jobs while meeting customer deadlines.
• Organize and maintain digital job files for smooth handoffs.
• Help identify and resolve production issues before jobs reach the press.

What You Bring

• 1–3 years of experience in prepress, print production, copy/print services, sign production, or a related field.
• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign.
• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, including Acrobat.
• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, including Illustrator.
• Working knowledge of Photoshop (basic proficiency is sufficient).
• Comfort using Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills.
• Ability to stay organized and manage multiple projects at once.
• Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work well with others.
• Dependability and a strong work ethic.

Helpful Experience (Not Required)

• Commercial printing experience.
• Variable data printing (VDP).
• USPS mailing knowledge.
• BCC Software or similar mailing software.
• Experience with Fiery, Xerox, Canon, Ricoh, or other digital print workflows.
• Large-format printing experience.

Tools You’ll Use

Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop), plus Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
