Graphic Design and Marketing Specialist
Job Description
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Communications, the Graphic Design and Marketing Specialist coordinates and maintains the Town of Flower Mound’s brand identity. The role combines graphic design, visual communications, and content creation for marketing and public information materials, with on-site duties in Cross, TX.
Responsibilities
- Contributes to the development and upkeep of a unified brand identity for the Town.
- Collaborates with Town departments to fulfill graphic design requests such as flyers, posters, invitations, brochures, report covers, presentations, social media graphics, and event or program logos, ensuring adherence to brand standards.
- Designs and produces the Town's Annual Report, handling complex layout, graphics, and copy, and assists with other reports and publications as needed.
- Develops and updates print and digital communication materials, including forms, reports, and social media graphics.
- Creates reusable templates for multiple uses, including presentations and business cards.
- Produces copy for marketing and communications materials, including social media, website content, utility bill inserts, e-newsletters, annual reports, publications, and flyers.
- Researches and proposes new ideas to strengthen brand presence.
- Attends Town events and works evenings and weekends as necessary.
- Supports public education campaigns for Town departments, elections, and Council initiatives; contributes creative ideas and proposals and may assist the Video team with video projects featuring graphics or other creative elements.
- Measures the effectiveness of media, social media, and other communication and marketing efforts to guide future needs.
- Adheres to personnel, safety, and department policies and procedures.
- Assists other coworkers as needed.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign).
- Strong understanding of design principles, typography, and color theory, with the ability to produce materials that meet federal ADA accessibility requirements.
- Excellent project management skills, capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, effective in cross-functional collaboration.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related programs as needed.
- Familiarity with Canva and similar design platforms.
- Knowledge of social media and marketing practices.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Ability to communicate with others professionally while maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Ability to work after hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
- Experience writing content for marketing or communications materials.
