Job Description
Radford University in Radford, Virginia, onsite at the main campus, invites applications for a nine-month tenure-track Assistant Professor of Graphic Design starting August 2026, with a salary range of $57,000 to $80,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Teach graphic design across undergraduate and graduate levels and participate in portfolio reviews, delivering rigorous instruction while supporting students in developing professional portfolios.
- Collaborate in the oversight and day-to-day operation of the graphic design program and its lab facilities, ensuring smooth operation and alignment with program goals.
- Coordinate and supervise internships, establishing strong industry connections and effective learning experiences for students.
- Provide mentoring and academic advising to both undergraduate and graduate students, guiding their academic and professional development.
- Develop new courses and update curricula to reflect evolving industry standards and scholarly inquiry within graphic design.
- Contribute to retention and recruitment efforts by engaging with prospective and current students and participating in program outreach.
- Foster a positive, collaborative departmental culture that supports student success and collegial staff collaboration.
- Demonstrate effectiveness in teaching, creative scholarship, and service commitments within the department and university context.
Requirements
- Master's degree in graphic design or related discipline, or a bachelor's degree with significant professional experience.
- Demonstrated record of professional practice and industry experience in graphic design.
