Job Description
Lamar University in Beaumont, TX invites applications for a part-time, on-site Adjunct Instructor of Graphic Design within the Department of Art & Design.
Responsibilities
- Teach 1-2 Graphic Design courses per semester as directed by the department.
- Demonstrate the ability to produce graphic design work and to effectively teach students the fundamentals of the field.
- Help students develop proficiency with industry-standard software, including Adobe Creative Cloud apps on Macintosh platforms, while emphasizing professional practices and success strategies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the department chair.
- Engage in teaching-related activities and contribute to classroom instruction as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- MFA or 18 hours of graduate study in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field.
- Ability to teach all levels of Graphic Design courses, typically 1-2 per semester as required by the department.
- Proficiency with industry-standard software, including Adobe Creative Cloud apps, and familiarity with Macintosh platforms.
- Record of professional and creative accomplishment.
- Capacity to teach both digital and traditional media.
- Ability to teach Intro to Graphic Design, Typography, Brand, and Portfolio courses.
- At least one year of teaching experience in the listed or related courses.
- Ability to introduce students to industry-standard software and develop their skills on Macintosh platforms, with emphasis on professionalism.

- Able to lift up to 25 pounds; may involve bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing, and walking between buildings.
