Job Description

Abbott Laboratories is building a culture where creative craft and clear thinking go hand in hand. In this on-site role in Alameda, CA, you will help shape the creative voice that brings the Lingo audience closer to the brand across campaigns, content, and every customer touchpoint. Reporting to the Director of Brand and Creative, you will lead with a writer’s foundation, guiding strategy, copy/content direction, and cross-functional collaboration.

Salary: USD 130,700 - 261,300 per year. Experience: 8+ years. Education: Bachelor’s Degree.

What you’ll do

Own creative strategy for brand and campaign initiatives, grounded in a clear point of view and a strong understanding of the Lingo audience
Lead creative concepting sessions, applying a writer’s instinct for insight, tension, and story to each brief
Turn business objectives and marketing briefs into compelling creative platforms, not just executions
Ensure creative consistency and quality across channels, including performance ads and social, packaging, and brand campaigns
Develop and evolve the brand voice so it stays distinct, durable, and deeply human
Write, direct, and elevate copy across all touchpoints including brand, digital, editorial, and CRM
Set the standard for great writing at Lingo, providing hands-on guidance and feedback to freelancers, agencies, and internal contributors
Maintain and evolve messaging frameworks, tone of voice guidelines, and narrative architecture for the wider team
Partner with the senior visual designer to keep copy and design in genuine creative harmony
Collaborate with brand, product, and growth marketing teams to deliver a cohesive creative voice across customer touchpoints
Present creative work to senior stakeholders with clarity and strategic confidence
Brief and manage external creative partners such as agencies, freelance writers, and content studios to ensure work lands to brief and standard
Support a culture where craft is celebrated and creative thinking is everyone’s job
Mentor junior creatives and contribute to a high-performing, collaborative creative team
Stay close to culture and health and wellness trends to keep creative output relevant and resonant

What you’ll bring

Bachelor’s Degree
8–12 years of experience in creative roles, with a clear trajectory through copywriting and creative concepting
Demonstrated track record leading creative strategy and execution for consumer brands (health, wellness, lifestyle, or technology experience is a plus)
A portfolio showing exceptional writing, smart strategic thinking, and the ability to work across brand, digital, and campaign
Experience art-directing and collaborating with designers (you don’t need to design, but you do need to direct)
Agency, in-house, or hybrid background welcome; experience in fast-moving founder-led or scale-up environments is a plus
