Job Description

The WordPress Web Designer position at NaphCare is an on-site role based in Birmingham, Alabama, focused on building and maintaining WordPress websites and turning design concepts into responsive, functional pages.

Overview

This role contributes to NaphCare's digital presence by developing WordPress templates, implementing front-end features, and ensuring accessibility and performance across sites. The incumbent collaborates with cross-functional teams to translate visual designs into polished, user-friendly experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Create custom WordPress templates and front-end experiences using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Twig
  • Develop and tailor back-end functionality to support site needs
  • Install and configure plugins, manage updates, and uphold site security and performance
  • Oversee code repositories and version control processes
  • Coordinate WordPress core updates and maintenance
  • Administer website plugins and their configurations
  • Manage production and live site environments
  • Maintain and update the website’s accessibility features
  • Update existing pages as required
  • Build new modules and modify existing modules as needed
  • Develop new pages and new landing pages
  • Provide guidance on website design best practices including UX
  • Maintain acceptable site speed and performance
  • Ensure mobile responsiveness across devices
  • Apply technical SEO best practices
  • Maintain site security and integrity
  • Manage hosting environments and domain configurations
  • Integrate and customize Google APIs and social media channels

Requirements

  • Strong web design skills from concept (wireframes) through development and testing
  • Experience measuring page and site performance to drive UX and SEO improvements
  • Hands-on WordPress experience including installation, configuration, and upgrades
  • Basic knowledge of databases
  • Understanding of content modeling and its relation to CMS implementations is valuable
  • Effective communication with employees and other departments
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with capacity to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to Code of Conduct and corporate policies
  • Prepared to provide 3-5 WordPress webpage examples upon request
  • Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening
