Job Description
Okta is building identity experiences that feel cohesive, simple, and secure across its entire platform. Working in a hybrid setup from Bellevue, WA, you’ll partner across R&D, product, and engineering to make high-impact decisions for millions of users. The position is designed for a senior design leader with deep craft, systems thinking, and an AI-informed approach to shipping quality at enterprise scale.
What you’ll do
- Serve as the lead designer across the full Okta platform, ensuring products work together as one cohesive, simple, and secure experience
- Define design vision, set company-wide standards, and influence high-level strategy with executive leadership
- Own the design architecture that connects Okta-wide Principal Product Designers by setting the innovation agenda, establishing standards across portfolios, and helping Okta define what great identity experiences look like
- Partner with R&D organizations, working alongside product and engineering leadership to drive decisions with broad, lasting impact on how users navigate, understand, use, and trust Okta products
- Shape the highest-order design strategy across Okta’s full product portfolio
- Lead company-wide discovery efforts and translate business ambitions into compelling, human-centered product visions with product leadership and executive teams
- Establish best practices and raise design fluency across the entire Research & Development organization
- Refine structural design decisions that product teams build within platform-level IA, cross-product navigation models, shared interaction paradigms, and design governance processes that preserve standards over time
- Apply a mix of deep craft work (architecture maps, journeys and user flows, design standards), strategic facilitation (cross-org alignment, design reviews), and active mentorship of senior and principal designers
- Communicate forward-looking visions for Okta and its customers to energize teams and help attract talent
- Drive company-wide efforts to improve how design solutions scale for the largest and most complex global customers
- Facilitate strategic sessions with senior leadership and executive teams and advocate for customers at the most senior levels
- Contribute design perspective to highest-level product and business conversations to influence company strategy and help define Okta’s market position

- Align teams around company-level goals and design standards to enable execution
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define the future of AI at Okta
- Uplevel design fluency beyond Product Design so more of Okta thinks and builds with design quality as a baseline
- Mentor designers across levels, acting as a standard-bearer for Okta core values and industry best practices
- Be an early adopter of evolving methods, including AI-assisted workflows, forming an opinion about new design methods and helping the organization adopt them
- Stay attuned to competitor products, UX trends, and emerging technology, bringing insights that create competitive advantage
