Graphic Design Specialist
Job Description
Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) seeks a Graphic Design Specialist for an onsite, part-time role based in Virginia. Working within the Marketing and Media Relations Office, this position supports College campaigns and promotions by producing recruitment and promotional design assets while helping maintain PVCC brand consistency.
Responsibilities
- Design promotional and print materials for general and program-related marketing campaigns, including student recruitment and marketing outreach.
- Create a range of assets, including print and digital ads, posters, flyers, postcards, rack cards, fact sheets, print publications, multimedia and video content, closed-circuit TV materials, and web design and social media platform graphics.
- Prepare publications and design projects for prepress and printing.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry standards, graphic design trends, and relevant technologies, with emphasis on community colleges and higher education.
- Maintain and apply the PVCC brand across deliverables.
- Participate in team meetings and full all-College events.
- Assist with designing creative content for internal displays and presentation materials (PPT) as requested.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent education) and relevant work experience.
- At least three years of experience with demonstrated success in graphic design.
- Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and Acrobat, Reader software.
- Demonstrated experience with typography and typesetting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of editorial layout.
- Experience designing graphic components for diverse digital platforms, including video, social media, and web.
- Ability to create concepts and align them with campaign goals.
- Strong written, oral, and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
- Fluency in English.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and resourceful approach to work.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Excellent customer service skills.
